Western Hemlock is a Showit website template for moody, adventurous wedding & elopement photographers. The project centered on creating an emotion-evoking template that feels tactile and atmospheric while still supporting the practical goals of a working photography business. The concept was to pair a dark, romantic, nature-driven visual direction with a clear, intentional structure that helps photographers present their work, explain their services, and connect emotionally with potential clients.

The design uses collage-style layouts, large parallax background images, and spacious compositions to create an immersive digital experience. Rather than relying on a polished or overly delicate aesthetic, the template leans into warmth, texture, and a more down-to-earth visual language. This approach was meant to reflect the style of photographers whose work feels emotional, natural, and deeply personal.

A key focus of the project was balancing visual atmosphere with usability. The services and portfolio pages were designed to do more than display imagery—they guide visitors through the photographer’s offerings and encouraging them to inquire. The template also includes a broad set of page designs and a built-in style guide, making it flexible enough to support a cohesive brand system across the full site.

I built the template in Showit because it's a user-friendly web design platform that allows full customization. Every element can be edited, from typography and color to page structure and layout, allowing photographers to adapt the design to their own brand without losing the original strength of the system. 

Western Hemlock was an exploration of how a template can feel immersive and expressive while still being practical, flexible, and easy to make your own.
